Dream big, I ask
It costs not a thing
Dare to see
Yourself as something
Trust that you’re worthy
Intelligent, bright
Believe that you can
Take control of your life
Fear not you’re alone
In the world for one day
I’ll be here to catch you
As your net I will stay
Safely distant but invisibly near
As you gather confidence
To fly away
From here
This step from Child to Woman is now
Yesterday, so far away,
When you stopped crawling, began to walk
Stopped babbling and Mommy you’d say
Take flight, my Beauty
You’ve made me so proud
My love still grows every day
This step is the hardest for me as well
….I silently wish you would stay
I love you
I’m not a mother, but as a daughter, this is a wonderful, uplifting poem. =)

Very good, the hardest thing as parents is to let go as your child leaves the nest. Again I say you should try to get published.

And again, I have the opportunity to tell you how kind you are!!!! “Crazy” thing is, she is not leaving the nest….just moving on from School on her first step in to the adult world. I will lose her here by her no longing being home for lunch, my companion for the 1.5 hours at mid day and the afternoons after school as she enters the 7am-7pm hours. so my day nest is yes, now empty. 😦

What a coincidence! 🙂 I am always discussing with my friends how most parents tend to be overprotective of their children, not realizing that true love is about helping them grow wings. It takes courage for a parent to step back and watch from afar, allowing their children to learn and explore and experience some pain. Such insightful parenting is an exception especially in Asia. Have a wonderful weekend too, Heather 🙂

Yes, Alexis, so true! Problem is that we love our Children so much and it sometimes hard to remember to keep that balance and distance becuase we are growing and learning right along side of you.:) Mine gave me a lot of distance and space, and I am forever grateful for that.
