And I am

A widowed New Yorker rooted in Switzerland for half my life already, blessed with 3 girls aged 24 and twins who just turned 21. I am still torn by the emotional state of having a yearning for home depending on which side of the pond I am on. But life is good…no denying its ups and downs but it’s always healing to try and find the beauty, if not reason, in it all 🙂 And like you, I write. I write for me, to hope that I am as well, writing for you. It is our release, it is our one way of expression.  It silently becomes our world, keeping our insanity sane. I welcome you to mine.

My adventures with the less fortunate can be read on my new blog at: http://hungerforhumanity.com/

In addition http://swissmissteak.wordpress.com/ ,my second blog of a lighter nature

If you enjoy what you read, a selection of my poems can be found published in Heart Whispers. Support of this book of poetry by Poets I am honored to be next to,  is greatly appreciated. It is a heartfelt collaboration of a part of the WordPress family.  I am humbled to have been sought to be a part of it. Thank you!

  1. Gruetzi – Saw you were following my blog and the name interested me Swiss Ami Mom. So what part of Switzerland have you thrown your ex pat roots – I live near Solothurn for the past 46 years, although originally from London, England.

  2. Thank you for granting me a smile today. Your ‘About’ is a smile-worthy one. You seem to have both feet on the ground, though you sometimes question which side of the ground they’re on. And you do it all with a sense of humor – there’s no better way 😉

I also love the appearance of your blog. I’m thinking of changing my theme after I saw yours. I always prefer dark colored themes. Yours is beautiful :))

    I dwell in Possibility –
A fairer House than Prose –
    More numerous of Windows –
    Superior – for Doors –

Of Chambers as the Cedars –
    Impregnable of eye –
    And for an everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the Sky –

Of Visitors – the fairest –
    For Occupation – This –
The spreading wide my narrow Hands
    To gather Paradise –

    • Like trying to compare apples to cows 😉 They are a world apart…I will forever miss New York, but Switzerland is the home of my Children so it is where I must lay my hat. A very difficult and good question, Darshan 🙂

  9. It is always a treat to find someone dedicated to poetry. Make sure the work provides more answers than questions. Elevate the heart. Have fun with imagery or surprise. Press on Sister. Your labour of love is not only a personal trek out into creativity. It is also a pool of refreshing waters, much appreciated…Doug Blair, Waterloo, ON

  10. Shhhh….Heather, don’t refer to Doug as a Mentor, He will only vehemently deny it but he is a great friend and brother!
I am delighted by your observation, you could not have known that were it not revealed to you.
    Blessings!

  11. Say what you want, the mosquitoes here all have tans, wear sunglasses and smell of aloe.
In a month or two you’ll be looking out your window trying to figure out where you parked your car before it snowed and have to put snowshoes on just to check the mail…been there done that no thanks! 14 years in Syracuse N.Y. was plenty.
Blubbers in the mail on it’s way to ya’ll.

  13. I am, judging by what I’ve already read, going to be spending a fair amount of time around here and just wanted you to know you have at least one more fan in this 57-year-old lover of prose and poetry on the Canadian West Coast, and as long as you keep up the writing, I’ll be popping in to keep up the reading. Take care.

  14. That depends if you mean on how to catch one, or where to purchase one, or maybe even a tasty recipe or two? You’ll have to let me know. Of course, if you’re being very literal, as poets sometimes are, good salmon tips would be nose and tails. Lol.
