I’ll just close my eyes to let them dance,
Alongside the vivid memories, you’ve given
They’ll capture the sight, of your body, calm, sleek
As Suns fire sets, so close, out of reach

Glistening droplets of silver and white,
Traces of gold, kiss you in pre night
Upon your warmth, that runs deep, far and wide,
As you shine brighter than, all of our stars in the sky

Oh, how far apart we are, yet how close to my heart,
The epitome of peace in my dreams
I wish to wake, to an open window,
With you and your beauty, looking back at me

My ocean, my Sea,
Liquid of my life
I’m so lost without your swells
It’s times like these I need you most
To place the ease back into my world

For now my eyes, waltzing symphonies,
With my mind, as they’ve danced before
Till summer time comes, and I trade in,
Your fine, moist sand for this cold hardwood floor

Sometimes

Sometimes it takes a sleepless night
To awaken from a dream
To realize that the cloud you walk,
Is not as real as it had seemed

Sometimes it takes a moment,
To cancel out a life
Realize that the faith you had,
Is now lost with just one lie

Sometimes it takes a player
To come in to your heart
To realize that the charm and wit,
Are just their form of art

Sometimes it takes a heart of gold,
To melt and turn to stone
To realize that, all along,
Your love has always, been alone

Sometimes it’s best to trust your gut,
Because it is your best friend
Only then you’ll shorten, false loves pain,
And get quicker to the end

Her Gift

It is a story of truth,
From not yesterday
But a chapter of life,
Now seemed far away

My 4 year old daughter was taken to shop,
Perhaps for my birthday, that part I’ve forgot
But that is a detail to leave to the side,
It’s not of importance, and soon, you will know why

At home I was busy with newborn twins,
Life seemed not to end when each day would begin
I thought I could handle the days even though,
Sometimes it was hectic, but I managed the flow

Inside I was harrowed, sometimes filled with knots
Thought I could hide my fatigue, I guess not
I could not fool my child, even when I’d think,
I was in control, when in fact on the brink

I remember her placing, this tiny gift in my hand,
A package, wrapped alone and quite well
Inside was her heart, her beauty, her soul
A gift of ceramic Snail and Turtle

Her present, a symbol, its message of hope,
To slow down, in her times of her need
That I should just take it easy, relax a bit,
And enjoy the gifts, Gods given me

That was the day I stopped in my tracks,
Looked deep in her big hazel eyes
Thanked the heavens up above,
For a Child so beautiful and wise

Still holding on, strong, erect,
In a spectacular color of dress
Vowing to bring beauty to days,
In the face of natures death

Fall seasons essence, you remain,
As the time comes, you don’t contest
To shedding your dressing, all with grace
With first gusts, of the Winters breath

Let me, be as you,
As this seasons rolls in,
Find warmth in the roots of my home
Not fight the unsettling, grey days to come,
Know it’s this way, for Spring to be born

A Place in Dreams for Me

It’s a beautiful day in my mind,
Visions that I’ve never seen
Gas lamps light the cobble stone streets,
Merchants at work,
With pride and esteem

Exchanged is a nod and a gentle smile,
As gracious kind people pass by
On a bridge, rhythmic clicks,
Echo horses proud hooves
With their carriages pulled,
Over still waters high

In this vision of mine,
On this eve of ash dusk,
A gentleman strolls by tall
Dressed with grace,
Of long cloth splendor,
Perfumed by the air of Fall

His Lady on arm,
Her boots finely laced
Pillar of beauty so fine
Rests dark auburn hair on the nape of her neck,
Over Rose scented skin divine

The intimate love,
That swims in their eyes,
Obscures all that I see
This is a Time,
A Street, a Bridge, and a Love,
A place in dreams for me.

Pilot of Life, an Audio Poem

Posted by Heather's Starting End on November 6, 2014
Posted in: art, life, poem, poetry. Tagged: audio poetry, belief, faith, hope, poem, poetry, religion, spiritual, wings to fly. 11 Comments

Inspired by hearing my “Waiting” read by Anthony and conversations with my first poetic inspiration here on WP, Jay, a writer of  poetry with an eloquent style that’s begged to be discovered, I decided to add an audio. I learned from Anthony that not only do we write, but we are,  interpreted. I listened to his rendition of “Waitng”, as it was felt to him. It was a wonderful experience as I listened.  I thought it may be interesting to hear my voice, how this new poem reads to me. The first lines are an inspiration from a comment from Anthonys partner. Soon I hope Jay, will charm you over the moon with the beauty of his voice set to his words-

Pilot of Life

https://poemsfromherlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/pilot-of-life.wav

„Have more answers than questions“,
T’was a tip today, a good one that I received
“We have wings and do fly,
If your mind is open,
All you must do is believe”

Close your eyes in the face of sadness,
Close your eyes, and let go
Travel to a corner, of peace in your mind,
On the invisible wings of your soul

Don’t search, don’t look,
Beyond what you’ve got
Be Tranquil now,
With your haves and have nots

While trusting the reason
Why it’s this way
As you travel your life,
In each predestined day

Do not give dignity,
To the questions of why
Travel beyond from that weight,
…Just fly

You’re the Pilot of life, on your own runway,
Never question the power of hope
Who says that we, cannot fly,
With wings on our souls to elope

A bed of  your roses with champagne,
We toss and ignite our game
Here, by me, remain
In loves flame
Lay

As seen in our eyes, our hearts proclaim,
A night  without any shame
Here, by me, remain
In loves flame
Stay

Gods gift of passion that we attain
Tomorrow please stay the same
Here, by me, remain
In loves flame
Pray

A great challenge from The Poets Corner. Guidlines for a Triquint can be found here.

This photo was mastered by a photographer, an old school friend of mine, Steven Parr. It captivated me with my first glimpse. I asked if I may put it to prose which he kindly permitted. I hope I was able to do his work justice. Thank you, Steve!

The Sun crept up behind the curtain of trees,

Sneaking a stolen glimpse

Of  how young morning air,

Seduces still waters

A magical, mystical meeting,

Of Mother Earth and Heavens mist

If this photo enticed you, as it did me, forsake not, to follow this link  to see his other work of nature as well as music, animals and people.

WordPress has told me that The Starting End has had it’s first Birthday. Though it is not Thursday, I thought a throwback from it’s birth would be nice. Thank you to those that have chosen to follow me along the way ❤

Oh Dear evil powers of the mind,
Halt your craft this day
I’m tired and weary, feeling constraint,
Please just this once go astray

I shall fall back in time,
One of innocence so young
Skip through the fields of green.

I shall chase after butterflies,
That dance in their world
Spin in circles carefree

I shall treasure that day,
Doused in splendor with awe
To be that young Girl,
If only once more

Oh Dear evil powers of my life today,
Release me of all that is real
I’m tired and weary, feeling constraint
I beg you for time to heal

Nonna, an English Sonnet

Knitting Yarn
Amongst the living room here where I am,
Sits a fine, elderly woman knitting
A small boy by her leg, sleeps like a lamb
Generations side by side, so soothing

It is just a dusk filled Saturday night
No, there was no celebration today
Here gifts of closeness make everything right,
Their nameless holiday, welcome to stay

The rising moon is now calling to her
Soon Nonna tires like the Child near
Inspiring gem, wakes up sleeps allure,
Nonna nods and says, I will stay right here

By my great grandson to enjoy this sleep
A heaven sent evening she vows to keep

pause
If
I was
To slide
To the side
Of your bed, get
Just as close as I can

Would
You then
For me turn
And wake up
From the dream
You’re just in
To feel the
Touch of
My skin

If
I was
To breathe
Down the nape
Of your neck would
You quiver in warmth
And pull the sheet
Down for me to
Cool down
Too?

Let the fire enter your sleep
Let fantasy fill your mind
With desire open but
Eyes closed to feel
Me travel about
On your skin
Tonight

An Invitation and a Peek

Posted by Heather's Starting End on October 22, 2014
Posted in: life, poem, poetry, poetry blog. Tagged: appreciation, blog award, finding myself, friendship, grateful, poems, poetry, wordpress family. 15 Comments

An invitation to visit a Poet (with an additional great Rock n Roll blog) who I am thanking for his thinking of me and finding my blog lovely.
Thanks Jem….you ARE a gem. This will be the last award I will accept on my blog. The visits and wonderful compliment of time taken to leave me a comment are truly the award in itself. I haven’t done it in the past but will close this out by including the peek of “7 things about me” this time around.

1)I think too much and talk too little on some days

2)Other days I talk to much while not thinking.

3) I believe God gave us feet for boots….all styles and colors.

4)The only one who knows my deepest feelings is the ocean

5a)Carbohydrates are a top priority,

5b)As is good wine

6)Although I can count them on *both* hands, my Family and Partner are my best friends and are all I ever wished for and  am not sad about  not having more fingers.

And lastly….

7)Writing here on WordPress has not only given me the chance to meet all of you, I have actually begun to meet myself. I thank you for making that possible through all your support. Bless you all and your wonderful individual talent!!!

Hugs, Heather

My Fathers Wish

001_ROSE-1024x360

My father wished me beauty
To find within my life
He spoke this dream to me
The day I stood in white

He prayed I’d find my guidance
On my way and keep the course
That all is there within my reach
There’s no such thing as loss

Because life is filled with beauty
It dares you to be seen
A gift right here for you each day
Take it, before it’s been

He spoke these words of wisdom
But with sorrow and a tear
He spoke the words he wished he’d heard
Now that his end was drawing near

He knew each breath was precious
Felt each moment of the day
Thanked the Lord up above
For this night, letting him stay

“What a Wonderful World” was our dance
Though our feet never touched the floor
In comfort we listened, arm in arm
Exchanging words of love and adore

The heavens opened just months later
To welcome home my Rock, my Dad
As I wept, the sun shone brighter
Gracious, for the gift, that they now had

Waiting

Posted by Heather's Starting End on October 20, 2014
Posted in: creative writing, philosophy, poem, poetry. Tagged: appreciation, life, life lessons, love, missing life, poems, poetry, waiting, waiting on life, what we miss. 61 Comments

Waiting-for-my-love
Waiting I was, I had always been,
The question was always for what
A moment, a feeling, opportunity perhaps,
While the answers, I know, I had already got

I waited for change in my life and it came,
Then wished it would go away
Realized this change, I did not want,
Then wished and waited
To have my old way

While waiting for sun in a midday storm,
The beauty of rain was missed
To close the umbrella and dance carefree,
While on my skin, by its droplets I’m kissed

I once waited for summer in winter,
That was the year I missed the spring
Missed all the flowers with scent of new life,
Missed the birds when to me,
They did sing

Waiting for morning I missed my dreams,
As I laid awake that night
Daybreak came, the stars had gone,
No fairytale visions from sleep came to sight

When I waited for love and I got it,
Waited so long till it came
I just couldn’t believe that I had it,
And then waited to be left,
All alone once again

To wait on the words “I love you”
With my ears open, but eyes then shut
I missed all your gestures, clues, the signs,
That showed me you loved me,
And just how much

Sadder than rain, love, spring and dreams,
Was waiting to grow, with my years hurried through
During that time the most precious was missed,
I lost sight of the joy, of my very own youth
