And we are off

Racehorse
Breaks out of the gate
Adrenalized tempo

We’re now steadfast in pace
Kicking up dirt along the way
Confident
forward we surge

Held back
For the turns

The stride then slows
Cautiously navigated success
Ready to master
pace again

Round and round we go
The final stretch

The finish line
In sight

Anticipation
Hearts pounding
Spectators wondering
Betting
If we will make it over the line

As winners
Or losers
On the track of love
