Dinner For Two

With familiar comfort two smiles meet,
As their hearts converse, eyes gaze
You feel their love and security,
Nurtured through years,
Spent together as days

Loneliness breathes down to the core of your soul,
Across watching, this table of two
The dancing candle, that missed wrinkles of life,
Letting love, be all that shined though

Tormenting your heart on its soul mate quest
It is painful, as well as,
Unbearably true,
That to see another that’s lived your dream,
And wishing just once, it was you

You’re the observer tonight,
Again
Not the observed,
Your Sadness inside cries so loud
You wish to be the one sitting in love,
The one envious of the crowd

Will you ever know if dinner for two,
Tastes better than dinner alone
Will you ever get to hear those words,
“Twas lovely my Sweetheart,
Let us go Home”

It was then that the Gentleman, elder and grey,
Stood up, lent his hand to his wife
Graciously taken, they head for the door,
Arm in arm, soul mates for life
