Deafening silence
Screams in my head
Blind insight
Shows me the way
As I roam through this life
Day after day

Exasperated
Numb to the bone
Are we all out of our minds?
Is there anyone home?

Or are we all just burn outs
From the technical age
Fast paced nowhere
Chicken pick wage

Creative thinking
Smothered and dead
Traded for production
Of the masses instead

Will Artistry once
Be illegal with time
Because it is something
That requires a mind?

Gods Gift of Tears, For Chris

Young boy ran barefoot,
Unfamiliar pain
 As he skinned his toe
Falls in to his mother’s arms
 Let’s his tears now flow

Not picked for the team,
Weakness can’t show
Left out on the side
Turns his head down to his arm
To hide his
Watery eyes

Gather strength
Learn fast young man
How to protect your pride
No time for weakness in this world
Your tears now you must hide

But God gave a gift
When life gets hard
When times no longer sweet,
He gave for that his gift of tears
For our eyes to greet

When bitter of pain
Cripples your way
Eats away your core,
Call power of tears
To flush it out
Help your mind restore

Like happiness ignites
A rejoice full glee
That follows with a smile,
Know that God has given tears
To stop the pain a while

They mend the heart
Restore the faith
Remind us it’s all right,
To be how He’s created us
With tears in our Gods sight

I held you in my arms
Rocked away your tears
Skimmed stones upon the water
Tea parties in early years

There for you when you came home
Spoke about your day
There for you when you would call
When things were not ok

Shared the joys and milestones
Of yours as well as mine
One others strength in times of darkness
Together we found light

With planted seed a role was given
To last my whole life through
To love and guide
Honor
Respect
The ever changing you

I’m more tired now as I grow old
And you so very strong
Choose wisely now
My Darling Daughters
And find where you belong

Remember your past
From where you’re from
Don’t hide in memories pain
Life has a way of mending itself
To get on your feet again

The highs don’t stay nor do the lows
Nothing stays the same
Now go on
Sweet Children
In to your world

Grab that dream
That bares
Your name

I love you my Darling
As you lay fast asleep
I love you my Darling
Breathe slow and deep
In the light of love
Of all you hold dear
In the light of life
Of all you endear

Drenched in the moonlight
I lay by your side
Your Silhouette falling
Into my eyes

Wander your dreams
Of colors surreal
Fly through the clouds
Make impossible real

Let this night take you
Far and away
For you’re loved and protected
As long here I lay

Early spring night
Yet so sultry and warm
Guide him now
Bring him back for dawn

I love you my darling
Breathe slow and deep
I love you my Love
As you travel your sleep

The Finish Line

And we are off

Racehorse
Breaks out of the gate
Adrenalized tempo

We’re now steadfast in pace
Kicking up dirt along the way
Confident
forward we surge

Held back
For the turns

The stride then slows
Cautiously navigated success
Ready to master
pace again

Round and round we go
The final stretch

The finish line
In sight

Anticipation
Hearts pounding
Spectators wondering
Betting
If we will make it over the line

As winners
Or losers
On the track of love

Free Verse challenge, not my form of poetry so it really IS a challenge 🙂 Thanks Guys!

I came down hard
On you
Again
Came down really hard

Disappointment
In my head
Again
Neglect swam in my heart

Disappointed in myself
Again
While I neglect to comprehend
The light you bring in to my life
But the darkness I defend
…Again

I cast a shadow on the good
For fear of
if it’s lost
I’m closer to the rational
It wasn’t worth its cost

Shower me
My ego pleads
With love
Secure my mind

Kill the shadows
That torment me
That love deserved
S’not mine

I came down on you hard again
As egotistic I
Just wanting to be next to you
To pause the time that fly’s

Into days of struggle that
Turn to weeks
At mercy of the clock
Weeks of Mondays
Each given month
Time carousel won’t stop

I came down hard
On you again
Came down hard
It’s true
My shadows’ truth
Is fear of loss
It’s fear of losing you

“My Open Window”

6093698-winter-open-window-vector-illustration-eps-file-included
On one December day
His passion went away
As if a window opened
And away
It blew
Exiting warmth
Entering cold
All on that winter day
Everything I loved
Disappeared

The man I once knew
Was taken ahold
By a past or a present
God only knows

He left my side as he stood by me
Invisible presence
As he claimed to be
In love with my eyes, my hair, my being

But what was the lack of love I was seeing
Where is his heart if it is not with mine
To where has it drifted in such a short time

The windows still open
As the pane gathers frost
I won’t close it yet
In case he’s just lost

Out finding his heart
And will bring it back
Before my heart freezes
Breaks down and cracks

We fight the seasons
With our bodies so bold
We sweat and we shiver
From hot into cold
We should fight for love
One to have and to hold
Leave windows open
For a chance to come home

Channel Me Back

Throw me a word
A prompt a line
Get my thoughts clicking
This day rain no shine

In the sky and four walls
Those thoughts I adore
Come out of the woodwork
Back here once more

Give me a head full of light
That brightens my day
Like Sunday spring
Lazy
ok

Drifting in dreams
Floating amidst
In my own mind
When everything fits

So give me a word
That prompt
That line
Kick start my head
With energy sublime
Channel me back
From writers block

For it’s a bad day when
The next word is “sock“

Sand In My Eyes

carsten-peter-a-dromedary-camel-is-silhouetted-in-the-sunset-of-the-sahara-desert

Even camels need water
Mother Theresa
Love
Endless journey
Oh heavens above

To give and accompany a whole life long
Questioning never how to be strong
I question you now
As my river runs dry
Thirsty camel
Love gone by

Where’s my next step
In the sands of time
Is it ego or heart
That gives me the sign
That the path I will follow
Includes my right
Not to thirst for the water
Be loves oversight

I see clearer now
With sand in my eyes
This desert storm
To my surprise
Dried up my heart
And disabled my tears
I see clearer now
After so many years

A victim of whirlwind
A fault of my own
This love thirsty camel
Wants to go home

Fire

Eagle in flight
Air is home for a bird in flight
As Earth the home for trees
Water a splendor for life of its’ own

And You are the fire in me

You are my Home
My earth
My air
My Fire
Our love water
In which we swim

I profess my love to you right now
Pray tell how to begin
To express what is right
Forego what is wrong
Keep fire in your heart

Your touch
As air soars a bird in the sky

Your love
As earth roots the trees

You’re my fire
My Home
My Earth, Air and Water
You’re everything to me

These Masks

Mask of morning fog
Covers the rays of breaking sun
Mask of a smile
Covers the residue of broken dreams

Disguises both ways
Distorts what may be
A manipulated state so real you’ll believe

The sun still shines just not in our eyes
The residue of pain not healed
Switch the perception
View from a new side
Then see the truth
That these masks don’t reveal

This Rispetto Poetry Challenge comes at a nice time.
My Twins are Seventeen Today. Happy Birthday, Girls. This ones for you!

Motherhood comes to my door
Imagine the glory within
Indescribable feelings soar
Announcing birth of  twins

Seventeen years later to this day
Into womanhood I watch them sway
Filled with life and dreams to dare
While growing wings to take them there

Rose Colored Lens

rose_colored_glasses
What’s it all anyway
It’s all just a storm
The days that are perfect
Are not life’s true norm

Put on the glasses with rose colored lens
Positive, reassured it’ll get better again
What is that” better” and when will it come
I think its a farce that fools everyone

Does it exist?
Is carefree alive?
Is it a part of the past,
In the future deprived

Of roads paved smooth
The way not furrowed
Faith in the heart
Of love not troubled

I’ll get on my knees
In the midst of this rain
Pave a new path
For love once again

This storm too shall pass
We’ll again find the norm
And the strength for life’s struggle
To which we were born
