Once upon a time…

The Snow fell in love
With the mid-winter Sun
Not knowing just what
It was getting into,
Not aware just yet, of the damage to come

The Suns beauty, it speared
Through the crisp, cold blue sky
The Snow gleaming with worship,
As the days passed on by

Feeling so close, in white layers so deep
So high, on the earth that it laid
Fearlessly moving deeper in love,
But winter was ready to go on its way

Drip by drip, day by day,
Watching the Sun
Perched high in the sky
Drops now formed, upon its heart
The Snow knew time had come,
For their final good-bye

As its puddle grew larger,
The pain did as well
The Sun burning down,
For its last farewell….

No regrets, thought the Snow,
I thought I chose well
How different we were,
Only time could tell

As the Sun and the Snow
Were destined to part,
No matter how foolish,
Love still melts the heart

It’s the risk we take,
Each time in loves name
There are no rules of logic,
In this kind of game

midnight_writing_by_rockangelreika-d7s4x4c

Desire is my midnight oil,
Push my pen throughout the night
Defying laws of nature,
Awake,
My minds lit bright

It‘s in this peace,
My mind can journey
Become acquainted,
With my of thoughts

It’s in this time
When I can be,
At one,
Alone,
In my spirit lost

To find the center,
Core of my being,
As I’m doing here this night
While you are all off sleeping,
Awakening dreams,
To hold you tight

Here I lay, in this bed,
Awake, as I dream too,
Of vivid feelings for this sheet
Scripting poetry for you

Tomorrow I just may look back,
And think what have I done
For my mind sees life much differently,
In the day, led by the sun

Dreams reality-
As the nighttime takes control
The day has now died

.
I never appreciated the difficulty of Haiku until this attempt.
Constructive criticism is most welcome from those who seem to compose these with such ease.

From 16 Year Old Me

Cleaning out boxes in the garage can be a good thing. Good when you come across a poem that you clearly remember once writing, ever so long ago. The irony of it is that I think I could write these words again today about 35 years later
WP_20150303_002

Alone, feeling cold
Needing to be warm again

Sad, feeling down
Needing to be up again

Scared, feeling lost
Needing to be secure again

Misfit, feeling empty
Needing to be whole again

I am lifeless,
Needing to be born again

Fog Eyes, an Elegiac Poem

Earth it spins, round and round, keeping me, away you, from this world, you fly
Angels wings, unseen wind, lifted you, beyond me, earth behind, goodbye

Creeping through, breaking through, sitting here, wanting not, wish you’d go, fog eyes
Desperate, despondent, lifeless night, stars removed, lonely space, sad sky
Begging you, show me now, beyond life, where you live, past the sun, gods home
Vale of fog, heavy mist, melt away frozen grief, I’m alive, alone

Possibly the hardest challenge I’ve ever attempted. Thank you to the Daily Post for the  Fog prompt and style.

Just where would you say that you are right now?
Your body tells me,
That you’re right here

But your mind is floating, way out there,
Somewhere not even, remotely near

Out there somewhere from long ago,
Your mind still buried in thought
You poor old thing, just why can’t you learn,
When the lessons already been taught

But like a child whose balloon has just broke,
You sit there and hide, your tears as you choke
Pretending it’s nothing, nothing at all
While in true life, you never rose from that fall

Insult me with nothings, that is just grand
Deny my heart, what it truly deserves
Proclaiming it’s me you want to be near
Never have I heard something more absurd

My color of future and yours of the past
So sorry Dear one, but they really don’t match

Like a lone piece, from a worn out puzzle,
In a new one, it has no place

This game of yours,
Holding on to old pieces
If you want this new puzzle,
Get your head out of space

The Daily Post Writing challenge for today.

balance-trust

  Before you, retreat with sadness
Tell me what is troubling you
  Don’t assume that I won’t listen
Rest assured I surely will
I am ready, to be your shoulder
Understand, I’ll do my best
It’s out of love I’m here for you
Seek your solace, so you can rest
Have faith in me, please don’t turn cold
Trust in me, your heart of gold

A “Comment” For Us All <3

In response to my Poem Dress Up With Words, a comment was left by a lovely man/blogger , whom I know as db. What he left behind for words had me wonder if it was a quote he had found and not one that came from his own heart. Well, it came from him and is of inspiration and confirmation that we should not only write to please, we must allow ourselves the right to write from our deepest corners.

Here is his message:

The reflection of the writer’s soul is not to be judged,

or critiqued, but merely accepted as the shade of the truth

with which God blessed that day the writers pen

I thank DB for his beautiful saying, shear loyalty to my blog and the comments that I anxiously await each and every time. With that said, I thank you all on this Day before Valentines and am glad to be able to send you all a timely wish of love, gratitude and thanks for all that are still with me after a rather quiet period. I am deeply thankful to you all.

With love, Heather

Dress Up With Words

Writing_With_Gold_by_NotQuiteCrazy

As weak as I am,
As strong as I seem
I dress up with words,
That fit my needs

So

You’ll never quite know,
What I’m really about
A facade of persona,
That you’ll never doubt

I’ll be a pillar when,
Inside I’ve crumbled
Calm, cool,
When my head screams and cries

Fine, when I know an unjust was done
Diplomatic when,
I’m raging inside

You will hear how beautiful life can be,
As I try my own self to convince
I write without, hesitation of hope,
Words of belief,
Are scribbled,
With nary a wince

Our lines, our stanzas,
Our poems of life
We instill faith,
For those who read

While inside we are really calling out,
For ourselves to also believe

An Eternal Mile

When the world casts its gloom,
Blocking sun from my life
I can turn my head,
And smile

Because I’ve saved the light,
Of our moments in time
That will surely outlast,
An eternal mile

I cannot be brought down,
Made to feel dismal and blue
No matter what fate,
Throws in my path

I’ve bottle each smile,
Each gesture of heart,
That you’ve unselfishly given
My happiness will last

When I am faced
With adverse thoughts,
Pessimistic,
With questions of doubt,

I’ll open this full
Bottle of joy,
Just enough to let,
Some happiness out

A Midsummer Night Valentine

Posted by Heather's Starting End on February 4, 2015

heart-calendar-12732102

Why today and not tomorrow,
Or perhaps even yesterday
To show your thanks with gestures,
For the love you feel each day?

Surprise me on a midsummer night,
Or a Tuesday, late afternoon
Not with chocolates or with roses,
But with your heart when in full bloom

Show your love not designated,
By a holiday of, store front clues
To remind you that you love me,
As I hope the other days you do

Dear sweet Valentine,
You are a saint
Please don’t get me wrong

But don’t you think it would be nice,
If this day could last,
Without your hint,
Perhaps a whole year long?

A quick poem for https://poetscornerblog.wordpress.com/2015/01/31/poetry-challenge-valentines-day-poem/ As always fun to do for the change of pace. Thank you, Harry!

Stars halt their glisten
To hear my wish,
For a timeless journey,
Of one on one bliss

So take me over,
As the moon does the sky
Feel passion burn,
Through this iced
Winter night

Stay with me till,
The sun wakes to rise
Giving again, your love,
Before you say
Good-bye

Sorry!

Sorry, I didn’t get round to it,
My time was spent somewhere else
Somewhere of much,
Greater importance
Of course I don’t put
Our love on a shelf!

Sorry, I didn’t have the time,
To look into what you requested
Of course I’m happy here with you,
Just look at all you’ve invested

Sorry I never asked about
Your days in the last week
Just didn’t have
A true desire,
In case that they were bleak

Sorry I didn’t bring you flowers,
And just forgot about our day
Besides, the vase looks very nice,
Empty on display

The opportunity didn’t come,
For me to call last night
But that’s okay,
You understand
Hope you slept alright
Sorry

Sorrys are avoidable,
All apologies and the like
Sorrys are an aftermath,
Of not thinking when
The time was right

“Sorry” for the simpleness of this poem 🙂
